Former NFL player Greg Hardy handed another brutal KO in his fledgling boxing career

Former NFL defensive end Greg Hardy hasn't had the easiest time transitioning into combat sports as he was viciously knocked out again in a Team Combat League bout.

In Round 17 of his TCL fight against Alexander Flores on Friday, Hardy was knocked down twice - as it appeared the ex-football player was struggling to get his guard up. Flores landed a stunning jab with his left hand, buckling Hardy and sending him to the ground for the last time in the evening.

Hardy suffered a similar result on Friday to his debut in the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship back in February - ending his night with a brutal KO.

Prior to the knockout, Flores' left hand made contact with Hardy's face early in the 17th round - putting the ex-defensive end on his knees.

After over-committing himself to try and get a punch in on Flores, Hardy was backed into the ropes and was then knocked out.

'Win some you lose some,' Hardy wrote on Instagram following the Team Combat League defeat. 'I got sloppy looking for a knockout.

'Forgot to fight my fight and paid the price against a good boxer. More to learn.'

Hardy's controversial NFL career was riddled with allegations of domestic violence as well as an arrest for cocaine possession.

He was convicted of assaulting an ex-girlfriend back in 2014. But when he appealed, the victim didn't show up to the hearing and the charges were dismissed and then expunged.

While innocent in the eyes of the law, the NFL still chose to suspend him for the first four games of the 2015 season.

At the time of the suspension, Hardy was with the Carolina Panthers - who drafted him back in 2010 in the sixth round.

But following the incident, the Panthers chose to not re-sign him. Hardy was eventually picked up by the Dallas Cowboys for one season before eventually being dropped.

After Hardy's NFL career ended - with 238 tackles and 40 sacks to his name - he began transitioning into a combat sport career.

He spent a brief time in the UFC, before the contract he signed expired and the organization chose not to re-sign him.
