Jury Selection in the Othal Wallace Case starts today

Othal Wallace's jury selection starts today for alleged shooting death of Daytona Beach Police Officer Jason Raynor in June 2021.

Raynor approached Wallace while he was sitting in his vehicle. Raynor started questioning Wallace, but Wallace wanted to know why he was being questioned. Raynor tried to stop Wallace from getting out of his car, and then, Wallace started running. There was a shot, and Raynor was wounded to the head. He later died as a result of a gunshot wound. This entire incident was captured on Raynor's bodycam.

Wallace was later arrested in Georgia two days later. He entered a plea of not guilty and has gotten a change of venue granted. He argued that he could not receive a fair trial in Volusia County. The trial is now being held in Clay County.

Wallace, 31, is being tried for the alleged shooting death of Officer Raynor, who had been with the Daytona Beach Police Department for three years.

The mass media has already convicted Wallace without letting him receive a fair trial of his peers. The news reporting covering this story do not use alleged or accused, but it states, "Wallace shot... killed... or murdered Officer Raynor."

This is unfair to Wallace and the entire legal process, which guarantees an impartial trial to all defendants.

Othal Wallace is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
