Race, Reparations, and Election 2024: Does a "Black Vote" Matter?

In this week’s episode of News-Facts-N-Comments we examine the recent uptick in the discussion surrounding the “Black Vote”. Some call it pandering, while others are calling it sucking up. Whatever it is, Republicans and Democrats are both concerned about securing the “Black Vote” in hopes of securing the job as the President of The United States in January of 2025.

As “Black Voters” consider Presidential candidates this November, it is clear that a significant segment is not going along with the status quo. They are wanting some tangibles for their vote. Those tangibles include but not limited to reparations and a Hate Crime Bill; both of which are beyond the President’s power to create such Bills. Perhaps the “Black Voters” should turn their concentration to State Legislatures and those candidates; several of which are seeking re-election. In addition, there’s always the possibility of withholding the vote altogether due to lack of formidable candidates. Perhaps the “Black Voters” should shock the world and vote for an Independent Candidate.

Many big wig pundits are already counting out Independent candidates such as Robert Kennedy Jr, Jill Stein, and Dr. Cornel West. Many in the media believe these independent candidates can’t possibly win.

What if this is the election year the people come out and disrupt the traditional red and blue vote only scenario? What if the people say no to both parties and stay home in mass numbers? What if an independent candidate emerges that can speak to the needs of the people and commit to following through on campaign promises that are logically doable?

This election year more than any other year “Black Voters” should pay attention to the Congressional Elections while watching the independent presidential candidate pool. Hot button issues/ Bills including Criminal Justice Reform, Education Reform and Reparations, are on the Congressional Agenda in several “Red States”.

The “Black Voters” hold the power to sway the 2024 Election. The question is do they realize how much power they are wielding this election year?
