A father has been charged with murder after three young brothers died in an Ohio shooting on Thursday night, officials have said.
Chad Doerman, 32, has been arrested and is charged with three counts of aggravated murder in the deaths of the boys, who are aged three, four and seven.
The Clermont County Sheriff's Office found the boys unresponsive in the yard of a home in a rural area of Monroe Township, around 25 miles southeast of Cincinnati.
Doerman was detained without incident after he was found sitting on the steps outside the property.
The deputies discovered the victims unresponsive in the yard with gunshot wounds. They tried to revive the children until the Monroe Fire/EMS arrived but they all succumbed to their injuries at the scene.
Their 34-year-old mother was also outside the property when deputies arrived, with what appeared to be a single gunshot wound to the hand that was not life-threatening.
She was taken to University Hospital in Cincinnati, where she was informed that her children had died.
The sheriff's office said there were no signs of forced entry into the home and investigators are not looking for any other suspects.
Doerman is being held without bond at the Clermont County Jail and is set to be arraigned in court on Friday morning at the Clermont County Municipal Court.
The bodies of the boys were taken to the Hamilton County Coroner's Office for autopsies.
Tracey Miller, superintendent of the New Richmond Exempted School District, said in a statement on Thursday: 'Our hearts are once again broken tonight as we yet again ask the community to lift up those affected by this horrific incident.'
She added that grief counselors will be available at Monroe Elementary on Friday.
The boys have yet to be publicly identified and details about the circumstances that preceded the shooting were not immediately available.
