(Opinion) March 25, 2024, San Antonio, TX- Candace Owens’ recent departure from the Daily Wire News Organization has unleashed a fury of posts and videos from the “Black” community surrounding the departure. The community is not forgiven of Candace Owens; primarily due to her previous support and alignment with former President Trump and the MAGA community. As well as, some may deem as, unforgivable previous statements Owens have made about the “Black” community.

There is no secret that the MAGA community have not been the “Black” community’s favorite group and Owens' alignment with MAGA’s core conservative stance on issues such as law enforcement and social service programs has derailed any support for Owens' recent strong stance for her right to freedom of speech as illustrated in a recent interview with a Jewish Rabbi on her YouTube podcast, The Candace Owens Podcast.

Did the “Black” Community overreact?

Professor Karen Hunter of the Karen Hunter Show on YouTube said that “Candace Owens is not invited to the cookout.” Professor Hunter immediately recalled a moment when Owens did not give the “proper response” to ‘God is Good’ during a conversation between Owens and another individual. The Professor hypothesized that Owens is now seeking the support from the “Black” community because the “MAGA” train has dried up, due to President’s Trump over $400,000,000 debt owed to the State of New York.

After listening to several other well-known content creators and reading several post on social media platforms, it was hard to locate an opinion that included the allegations or acknowledgment of the alleged internet bullying and threats levied against Candace Owens mentioned in the interview with the Rabbi, which many are speculating is the interview that led to Owens’ departure from the Daily Wire.

Many content creators recalled several previous statements Owens made as justification for not wanting to rescind Owen’s revocation from the “Black” community. The creators did not mention Owen’s defense of a “Black” individual’s right to defend their right to freedom of speech.

Latest news reports indicate a shift in the “Black” community’s sentiment about Donald Trump. “Blacks for Trump” is a result of this shift. Trump distanced himself from MAGA at a recent convention, where the audience were majority “Black.” Trump recalled that America probably was never really good to “Black” people. He went on to say that under his Presidency he vows to change it, so that America is good for every American. It sounds like more political rhetoric, and probably is, but the fact remains more “Black” Americans are now voting Republican due impart to Trump. Are they in alignment with Candace Owen’s?

Many white right wing content creators are standing with Candace Owens. Noting that she has a right to defend freedom of speech, and should be allowed to speak out and defend herself against the Zionist Movement and their attempt to silence her. They also reject the Anti-Semite label placed on Owens.

Regardless of how we feel personally about an individual, we should not allow those feelings to override the acknowledgment of a violation of a human and constitutional right. This is the issue that many in the “Black” community overlooked or blatantly did not want to acknowledge. Candace Owens may not share the same opinion on social issues as many in the “Black” community, however, should she be left to fight the freedom of speech fight alone because of a difference of opinion? Or should the “Black” community use the attention Owen’s is receiving to further advance the cause of putting an end to silencing of voices that are speaking out against 1st Amendment Rights violations many Americans are receiving due to being labeled antisemitic and violations of their 14th Amendment Rights due to the consistent unconstitutional favor shown to the State of Israel and the Jewish community here in America?

The latter would be a more productive approach for both the “Black” community and Candace Owens. Perhaps it is time for Owens to get to know more about the “Black” culture. However, will learning more about culture change one’s opinion/political stance on social issues? More importantly, the greater question would be, should those opinions even matter when a fact of injustice is shown or proven?
