Moses, who has consistently fought for justice on behalf of disenfranchised groups, is raising alarm over the growing nexus between corrupt judicial practices and corporate greed—especially within the housing sector.
“Too many corporations are profiting off government subsidies while the most vulnerable, particularly low-income residents, are left suffering,” said Moses. “Judges, corporations, and government contractors have been operating unchecked, abusing their positions of power and exploiting residents in federally subsidized housing.”
The call for action comes as Moses prepares to hold a press conference on October 3, 2024, at the Odell Horton Federal Courthouse in Memphis, Tennessee. Joined by local clergy, residents, and concerned citizens, Moses will demand the establishment of a Federal Oversight Commission to investigate judicial misconduct and the corporations benefiting from public funds, while failing to serve the communities they claim to support. Key Issues Moses Will Address:
● Judicial Corruption: Numerous allegations of conflicts of interest involving judges in Tennessee, including collusion with corporations and housing management companies that have abused federal funding intended for marginalized communities.
● Corporate Profiteering: Corporations receiving government subsidies to operate low-income housing and care facilities while neglecting or exploiting residents, particularly the elderly, disabled, and African American communities.
● Housing Injustice: Systemic failures in protecting vulnerable residents from predatory practices, substandard living conditions, and neglect, exemplified by cases such as the ongoing “Serenity Crisis,” in which elderly residents in federally subsidized housing are being mistreated and neglected.
● Unsolved Murders: An alarming trend of elderly Black homeowners being targeted, with law enforcement and judicial systems failing to address these crimes.
● Systemic Reforms Needed: A comprehensive overhaul of the criminal justice system, mental health treatment, and housing policies to ensure transparency, fairness, and accountability.
“This is not just about housing or justice reform—it’s about human lives being destroyed by corrupt systems,” Moses continued. “The Department of Justice must step in and investigate the judicial corruption and corporate abuses that have gone unchecked for too long. Our communities deserve better, and we will not stop until there is accountability.”
